University of Virginia Lab Manager, Sr. - Blood Bank & Cellular Therapies in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Lab Manager, Senior oversees multiple units of personnel in a combined activity within the Medical Center Laboratories. This role manages both the Blood Bank and the Cellular Therapies Lab Program. The Blood Bank is a 24/7 operation and supports trauma patients, organ transplantation, emergent surgeries, stem cell transplant patients, ECMO, massive transfusion protocols, and adult/pediatric ICU patients. The Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine are inspected by the FDA, AABB and CAP agencies. The Cellular Therapies Laboratory oversees the processing, storage, and characterization of cellular therapy products for patient care at UVA Health. The Cellular Therapies Laboratory is inspected by FDA, CAP and FACT. This role oversees a total of 48 FTEs between the two laboratories.

Position Compensation Range: $87,755.20 - $140,400.00 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field required.

Experience: 5 years of increasing managerial/supervisory responsibility in a complex health environment.

Licensure: National certification required, MLS or MT ASCP preferred. May require a valid Virginia Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
