University of Virginia Trauma Surgeon, University of Virginia, Section of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for a position in the Section of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. The incumbent is responsible for the clinical care of patients in trauma, critical care, and emergency general surgery as well as participation in student, resident, and post-graduate teaching. Clinical and laboratory research opportunities are available. The selected candidate will further scholarly achievements with the goal of promotion within the School of Medicine and the University. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive ability to provide surgical evaluation and management of critically ill patients from trauma and emergency general surgery. Clinical opportunities in elective General Surgery may be available based on the clinical expertise and interest of the candidate and available clinical volume. Enthusiastic participation in student and resident training and education is essential. Interested individuals must possess a strong interest in a career in academic medicine as demonstrated through past experience with research or teaching pursuits and a prepared proposal for an academic career path.

Candidates must have a Medical Degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery and Critical Care.
